KYK Invitational, London x Rio x Tokyo Olympic glory leaders gather together

The lineup for the 'KYK Invitational 2024', also known as the 'World Volleyball All-Star Game', is about to be announced.

Kim Yeon-kyung will hold the 'KYK Invitational 2024', her national team retirement ceremony and World Volleyball All-Star Game, in collaboration with the Korea Volleyball Association and her agency Ryan At in June.

Accordingly, an event organizer who was contacted by MHN Sports on the 11th said, "The KYK Invitational lineup has been confirmed to some extent, and the cast has been organized around the main characters from the 2012 London Olympics to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics."

Once the lineup is finalized, it will be announced between the end of April and May. Among professional team coaches who have retired from active duty, coaches and coaching staff who coached the national team are also included in the lineup.

However, final coordination with the Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO) and the Korea Volleyball Association is required regarding the participation of coaches and coaching staff.

The scheduled lineup of overseas players includes Anna Lazareva, who previously played for IBK Industrial Bank, and Helen Russo, who played for Hyundai Engineering & Construction. A wing spiker from the Brazilian national team and a player who retired from the Thai national team are also in the lineup. In addition, there is a possibility that players from the Argentina and Serbia national teams will also be seen in Korea.

The organizers said that among overseas athletes, they had in mind to focus on the 2012 London Olympics, but later changed the plan somewhat and planned a list centered on athletes from the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Olympics. London Olympic members are also on the lineup list.

However, for overseas players, schedules are expected to be adjusted 2 to 3 weeks before the event, so the finalization of the roster is later than the domestic lineup. Accordingly, the possibility of changes in the overseas invitation list is quite high.

In addition, Kim Yeon-kyung is about to undergo the final review of the launch of a youth sponsorship foundation under her name, and she must receive permission at least before June to engage in official activities. The foundation is supported by some veteran volleyball players, both male and female.

Previously, Kim Yeon-kyung announced at the V-League awards ceremony held on the 8th that she would play an active role once again in the 24-25 season. Kim Yeon-kyung won two awards at the awards ceremony, winning the Best 7 Outside Hitter category and the MVP award.

Kim Yeon-kyung, who was at the crossroads of retirement and active duty during the 22-23 season, signed a one-year short-term extension contract with Heungkuk Life Insurance after qualifying for her first free agency. And when he failed to achieve satisfactory results in the 23-24 season, he once again chose the path of active duty and is making his third attempt at winning the domestic championship after returning.

Meanwhile, the V-League, which ended the 23-24 season, will complete FA negotiations for the men's and women's divisions by the 18th and then begin tryouts for the men's and women's Asian quarters from the 29th to May 3.
