Kiwoom's first domestic pitcher to go over 5 innings.

Kiwoom Ha Young-min (29) pitched well in his starting mound.

Ha Young-min started on the mound in the home game against LG held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the 30th and pitched well, allowing 2 hits, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts, and no runs in 5 innings.

After graduating from Jinheung High School, Ha Young-min was selected by Nexen (now Kiwoom) as the 4th pick in the second round of the 2014 rookie draft.

In 2014, his first year of debut, he was given a chance as a starter and went 3 wins, 5 losses, and an average ERA of 7.22 in 14 games.

From the following year, he was on the mound mostly as a relief pitcher. Last year, he played 57 games, the most since his debut, and all of them were intermediate relief pitches. His most innings in a game last year was 2.1 innings. His most recent start was against KIA on September 7, 2018. At the time, he had allowed three runs in two innings.

Then he got a chance to be a starter again this year. He was used from spring camp and showed ups and downs in two exhibition games, allowing 8 runs in 6 innings, 1 win, 0 loss, and an ERA of 12.00.

Kiwoom had a lot of worries about selection. It was difficult to form a starting lineup due to Ahn Woo-jin's military service and Jang Jae-young's injury. Ha Young-min and Kim Seon-ki took their places as starters. However, these were not all professional selection agents.

Kiwoom has not won once since opening on the 23rd. This is because all pitches were poor. Even foreign pitchers could not prevent the team from losing.

Meanwhile, Ha Young-min played his role as a domestic starter for a long time. He showed off good pitching in his first start of the season. He pitched scoreless against LG, last year’s combined championship team.

It was good from the start. Ha Young-min, who hit out Park Hae-min, Hong Chang-ki, and Kim Hyun-soo one after another, hit a right-handed hit by Austin Dean in the second inning and gave up a walk to Park Dong-won, putting him in danger with two outs and runners on first and second base, but he prevented a follow-up hit.

In the 3rd inning, he finished the inning with a three-way error, and in the 4th inning, he only gave up a hit to leadoff hitter Kim Hyun-soo and set up all three batters. Ha Young-min, who decorated the inning with a three-way throw in the 5th inning, performed his duties perfectly and then handed the mound over to the bullpen.

While Ha Young-min was guarding the mound, Kiwoom’s batting lineup also gained strength. Kiwoom scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning on Lee Hyeong-jong's 1-RBI double and Kim Hwi-jip's timely hit, and ran away with 3 more runs in the 3rd inning on Lee Won-seok's sacrifice fly and Kim Hwi-jip's 2 RBI double.

Ha Young-min met the requirements of a winning pitcher and was able to come off the mound. The number of pitches was 70. He threw a mixture of fastballs (43), forkballs (13), curveballs (7), and sliders (7) with a maximum distance of 147 km.

Ha Young-min's most recent win as a starter was in a game against SK (now SSG) held at Mokdong Stadium on September 23, 2014. The most recent starting win against LG was on May 30, 2014, at Mokdong Stadium. At that time, Ha Young-min achieved a quality start by allowing 1 run in 6 innings and became the winning pitcher. And on this day, with support from the batting lineup, he aims for his first win against LG in 10 years.
