‘PGA member’ Lim Seong-jae ‘Outing in Korea for the first time in 6 months’

Seongjae Lim, who plays on the PGA Tour, will appear on the domestic stage for the first time in six months.

He will take the mound at the Korea Professional Golf (KPGA) Tour Woori Finance Championship (total prize money of 1.5 billion won), which begins at the Ferrum Club (par 72, 7,232 yards) in Yeoju, Gyeonggi-do on the 25th. He is qualified to be the defending champion. He came out on top in this competition held in May last year. This is his second win on the KPGA Tour following the 2019 Genesis Championship. Seongjae Lim greets domestic golf fans for the first time in a long time since the Genesis Championship in October last year.

If he wins, he will successfully defend his title for the first time in his life. He has two wins each on the PGA Tour and the Web.com (Second Division) Tour, but has never achieved two wins in a row. Seongjae Lim is sponsored by Woori Financial Group. He was scheduled to participate in 2022, when this competition was first held, but was unable to do so due to contracting COVID-19 just before the competition, and lifted the trophy in his second attempt. Afterwards, he participated in the Genesis Championship and led until the third round, but lost the championship to Park Sang-hyun after being dragged into overtime on the last day.

Seongjae Lim was cut off at the Masters, the first major tournament of the season, but returned home after finishing in a tie for 12th place at the RBC Heritage, which ended on the 21st. In the first round group announced on the 23rd, he will play with Sang-pil Yoon and Jeong-hwan Lee. He expressed his determination, saying, "The goal is, of course, to win. I participated in this competition last year and am familiar with the course and atmosphere. I will do my best all four days to achieve a good result, such as winning."

Sangpil Yoon, winner of the DB Insurance Promy Open in the opening match, is aiming for his second win of the season. Lee Jeong-hwan, who took third place in both competitions held this year, is in trouble. In addition, Park Sang-hyun, Kim Bio, Jeong Chan-min, Jang Yu-bin, Jo Woo-young, Seo Yo-seop, and the tournament's first champion, Jang Hee-min, were also listed on the participation list. Last week's KPGA Founders Cup champion Ko Gun-taek will not participate due to participation in the Japan Professional Golf Tour (JGTO) tournament.
